This project intended to improve water quality and eliminate safety hazards at Lion’s Pond in College Place. Due to water quality problems and sedimentation, the pond, created by a small dam that impounds a short section of Garrison Creek, can support only a small number of stocked trout for youth fishing. Additionally, the subsiding walkway around the pond has created a hazard that impedes public enjoyment of the park.
Since 2013, the Lion’s Club, City of College Place, WDFW, Tri-State Steelheaders, and interested citizens have been meeting to develop solutions to the pond’s problems. Thanks to a new financial contribution from the City of College Place, the conceptual design phase of the project was completed in summer 2017.
